How do i apply to demo?
Just head to svnewtech.com/demo. There is a 4-6 week waiting list to demo. Over 40 companies apply each month, so it can be a tough decision for us to make at times, but we’ll notify you either way with an email.
How do i make it to the rsvp list?
The SVNewTech has grown quite popular over the past 5 years, can you imagine that it all started with just 5 ppl at a coffee shop in downtown Palo Alto?
We limit the size of the meetup to 200 people, because anything larger than that would loose the intimacy and informality members have grown to love about the SVNewTech Meetup. With thousands of members in the group, the RSVPs fill up quickly each month. However, there is a trick to guarantee you’ll get a spot, just rsvp 3-4 weeks early and you’ll be fine. Most ppl RSVP 14 days before the meetup when an automatic reminder goes out. If you put a reminder on your calendar to RSVP before that, you’ll be sure to get in.
Sometimes we’ll make exceptions for people travelling to Sillicon Valley from out of town or another reason. If that’s the case, feel free to contact us to let us know your reason.
How did the SVNewTech start?
Vinnie started the SVNewTech meetup when he moved out to Silicon Valley from NYC, where he attended the NYNewTech meetup in it’s early stages. The NY NewTech Meetup introduced Vinnie to interesting people and he learned about new startups. Vinnie wanted to start something similiar and in Feb 2006 he organized the first SVNewTech Meetup at Coupa Cafe in downtown Palo Alto. With just 5 ppl in attendance, Vinnie wanted to grow the meetup larger enough to have companies come out and demo. And within 3 months, SVNewTech had its first lineup of demos at DFJ Ventures.
How do I grow my own meetup?
Vinnie gave a talk at SF Ignite hosted by Google, on how to grow a community from 5 to 5,000:

Will you send out a link to your list?
Because we work hard to keep the meetup free to all members and try to limit the amount of sponsorship, we ask that if you want to promote a paid event, book, or other gig, that you give back to the SVNewTech group and give out a handful of tickets or books in ordered to be mentioned in our monthly newsletter which is read by thousands of techies in the valley, from developers to ceo’s, to VC’s and bloggers.
